Some states allow gay and lesbian marriage, gay bars and TV channels have appeared, and people's underatanding ahs changed with increasing the number of gays adn lesbians. Nevertheless, some people stil think gay/lesbian marriage is ethically wrong, or it would lend up to AIDS. In addition, their marriage has not been allowed legally yet in the whole U.S., so they cannot receive enough benefit and pension; however, some couples already have started their matrimony, and have children. If they were in a dangerous situation such as sudden injury, they could not receive medical care. For prrotecting them, people need to know these are just misunderstandings and prejudices. Here is a person who agrees with gay/lesbian marriage, Jessica Montgomerie. She gave us a lot of opinions.

My intervieww, Jessica Montgomerie, believes marriage equals living with your partner and loving him/her. It does not matter which sex you and your partner are. That is why she agrees with gay/lesbian marrage, and does not think ti is ethically wrong. She also believes in individuality. Everyone can make his/her own choice. Therefore, she claims the whole U.S. country should allow gay marriage. Moreover, having a sexual relationship is a natural part of being human even if it is between same sex people. About AIDS, which manu people are concerned about, people usually ge AIDS from the people of the opposite sex. She also says it is unfair that they cannot reeive benefit and pension. Finally, many gay/lesbian couple have children. Theif parents"s behavior might influence children; however, she notes that gay/lesbian people were also born to heterosexual parents. Thus, even though there are many misanderstanidings and prejudice, there are also people who rightly understand them, lik Montgomerie. Society is changing. If people appreciate gays and lesbians more, they would be admitted to the whole world and be more comfortable.

Three new networks seek gay audience

This is an article I used as a my presentation. However, I would like to introduce it again, because it was very impressive for me. It talks about three networks which are trying to make gay channels and to get gay and lesbian audience. MTV Networks's Logo will start this program on June 30 as far a part of their basic cable services. They are sure to be successful because there are many people who need this kind of service with increasing the number of gays and lesbians.

I am so curious about this project and I think it would be succeed. There are many people who are gays and lesbians, and they want to watch their love stories and documentaries. Also they can express their feeling and opinions by broadcasting these TV programs. It may remove the prejudice toward them, and spread people's understanding. I also saw on gay's opinion on the web. He said that he always feels uncomfortable with regular channels becayse the TV dramas are usually between a man and a woman. Consequently, I hope they could feel better with this type of TV programs.

The Difference Between Film & Book

There are many differences bet ween the film and the book. I will mention one slight different. Inthe witch and the glass eye story, Edward was a child, yet in the book, he was a college student. Although it seems not to e an important change, it controls the impression of the witch's story. This movie was created in a fairy tale style, so it should be fantastic and mysterious. If Edward were an adult in the story in the film, I would interpret this is as a horro story. I think it whould not be congenial to the film's style. In contrast, since children and witches are a royal road to fairly tales, the story in the film as the particular atmosphere of fairly tale.

Big Fish

According to Jerry Saravia, " The flashback is where Burton is engaged and coiled."
The flasback should be paid attention to in screenwiting because it is most likely to bring about audience's misunderstanding. In fact the audience might confuse whether the scene is the main story or tales. I think they succeeded in changing these scenes smoothly, especially at the beginning of movie. Although there was the main story and the tales, I was not confused. It was distingished by puttin in the narration of Edward. It is proper for not only distingishing scenes, but also explaining about how Edward always tells people tales. and it is impressive enough.

Welcome Back, MR. McDONALD

I like to watch fantasy movie such as “Harry Potter” and the movies produced by studio Ghibli, basically because I feel refreshed by them. However, I would like to introduce a different kind of movie, “Welcome Back, MR. McDONALD,” which is a Japanese movie directed by Koki Mitani. The story is a comedy in which the performers bring up the selfish problems while acting on a live broadcast in a radio station and the studio drop into panic, then the script, which was a melodrama is changed to the action thing which is no expected. However, it suggests the responsibility for things you made, and the importance of making things by your hands behind the funny story. The one character, who is the producer, says, “If it is a terrible creation, I can not escape that.” Another character who was a sound director says, “ The ready-made sounds have no distinction. Sounds are things you made.” Also, we can enjoy how to make radio drama, especially the way to make sounds are portrayed quite closely. For example, the sound of the washout of a dam can be made from the sound of a flushing toilet. Did you know that? Like this, there are many surprising things in the movie. As a result, I am entertained no matter how many times I watch it.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://erikoami.blogspot.com/2005/01/welcome-back-mr-mcdonald.html' title='Welcome Back, MR. The sory was about a Rabbit which ran so fast and Tortoise which was the slowest of all the animals. The rabbit always mocked the Tortoise. One day, both animals decided to compete in a race; the Rabbit slept halfway though the race since he assured of his victory. In contrast, the tortoise continued to run slowly, byt surely; therefore, he won the race.

There are two contrastive characters, wich are Rabbit and Tortoise, and they are good models for children because there are three kinds of reality in their behvior. Firsly, the Rabbit made a fol of tortoise. Secondly, he slept halfway through the race. these things might look harmful. However, he lost the race due to his excessive confidence and carelessness; consequently, children will take him as a negative example. Finally, the Tortoise was success. He tells children the importance of being steady even though he is inferior. As a resl, I belieeve these elements make a good influence ofr children because these may happen in real life anytime.

Issun-Boushi (One Inch Boy)

Long, long ago, there lived an old man and his wife in a village. They had no children so they prayed to God to give them a baby every day. One day, to their surprise, they were endowed with a small boy whose height was one inch. They named him “Issun-boushi”—One Inch Boy. They loved him and treated him like a treasure, so One Inch Boy grew up strong; however, he couldn’t become a tall boy.

One day, he said, “Father and mother, please give me a needle, a straw, a bowl and a chopstick”. “What are you going to do with them?” his mother asked. “A needle is a sword, a straw is a sheath, a bowl is a boat, and a chopstick is an oar. I’ll go to the capital city and become a samurai”, he said. His parents let him; therefore he left the city.

He hopped into the bowl and arrived at the river, then went down the river like an arrow. Then a fish attacked him, so he drove the fish away with the chopstick. The fish mistook him for tasty food. Then he was thrown by a wave, whipped by rain, and blew by wind. At last, he made it to the city.

He decided to work for a wealthy man’s house after he arrived at the city. One day he went to a shrine with the wealthy man’s beautiful daughter. Halfway, they met a big demon. The demon was going to kidnap her. One Inch Boy stood up to the demon bravely. “Bad demon! If you touch her, I’ll kill you!”

“Insolent boy! I’ll eat you!” the demon said and quickly swallowed him down. Then, “ouch!….ouch!” The demon felt pain. One Inch Boy pricked him with the sword of needle in his stomach. “Ouch!…I’ll die. I’ll give up. Help me!” The demon vomited him out and ran like a rabbit.

“Thank you so much for helping me, said the princess. “You are so small but so brave. Look! The demon has dropped something. This is an uchide-no-kezuchi – mallet of luck. If we shake this, we can get anything we hope for. What do you hope?”
“I’d like to be tall. Please make me a tall boy.” She shook it; therefore he rapidly became a tall young man. Moreover, he married her and became a neat samurai as he had wished.

Eriko, Japan

The Modern Family

"Marrige, Family and the Home" by Brown and Hood from ACADEMIC ENCOUNTERS says that the traditional family where the mother takes care of children and does not have an occpation has become rare. Instead, three new types of family have become common. One of type of family is the two-career family in which both parents work outside. It is not always happy because sometimes husbands ask for their wife to do all the housework. This develops a conflict. Where they share the housework, their living is usually pleasant. Next, the single parent family in which one parent takes care of children has exploded with increased divorce and never-maarried women having children. Most of the parents are women; moreover, they live at the poverty level because one parent cannot get higher income. Finally, the stepfamily consists of biological mother and children, and stepfather. They sometimes have a difficult relationship beween the stepfamily and stepfather because of discipline if stepfather's policy toward discipline differs from the real faher's. This also develops conflict. In conclusion, three types of new family have become general; however, they are not necessarily happy.
